Only very few people look good with a mullet. Well, most popular hairstyles only suit a very small number of people, but they are worn by lots of people who look ridiculous with them, just because they are popular... fashion is a thing I don't understand.
The mullet is a hairstyle sometimes worn by David Bowie, that »Achy Breaky Heart« dude, and various athletes – usually baseball players. Now how did a fruity 70's hairdo end up being co-opted by tuff macho men 10 years later?
Defined as a style where the hair is longer at the back than at the front, the mullet is one of the most reviled haircuts in existence.
There are various categories of mullet, but they all share one key characteristic – a flagrant disregard for style and taste.
The mullet may be accompanied by tight jeans and white trainers. It is often associated with a molester style bum-fluff moustache and a penchant for playing air guitar. Approach with caution.
