I used to like the word 'gurgle'  as in gurgle with laughter, gurgling babies, streams etc. But then my enjoyment of it was corrupted when I accidentally came across the terrible chapter in Thomas Harris's 'Hannibal', where Lector's tortured, cannibalised, brain-dead victim finally 'gurgles' his way out of the world. Ugh! Does the human imagination have no bottom to its depths...?? |
