»Will you marry me

I sometimes wonder if I will ever meet her. The woman I'd ask that question.

I've reached the age where I should take another look at my will. Any changes I make will probably be the last for this legal document.

I can't say that I regret the passing of this particular chore. Even though it has been good to periodically look around and back and forward, to think about possessions and about family.

I know which I value most.

Shakespeare is often referred to as 'Will.'

But to my knowledge there are no documents to support this diminutive form of William for the playwright.

He might have been called 'Liam,' 'Wim' or – for all we know – 'Bingo' or 'Skip' or 'Mikey.'

His surname was pronounced 'shack-spur,' by the way....

Oh yes, there is powerful evidence that Shakespeare sometimes liked to call himself Will. In one of his sonnets (to the Dark Lady, I think), he has a wonderful verbal joke about '...having your Will, and Will to boot and Will in overplus'!! Splendid fellow – a Will by any other name would be one of the world's greatest poets and greatest playwright.
