Air

I used to have this recurring dream, where I was lying on top of the atmosphere. I was laying out there in space, dark above me, Earth's glow below me... the atmosphere was all cushy below me, and made little seething sounds, like the ocean through a tiny speaker. SSSSsssssss.... sssssSSHHHHHhhhhssssss...

I was sprawled out flat, laying on the atmosphere, like it was a huge field under my back. It was ripply, and bumpy, like a waterbed (though I can't sleep on a waterbed), and I just threw my arms wide and looked at the night sky, with that faint blue light in the corners of my eyes. ssssSSSSsss... ssssSSSHHHHssshhhh....

the air will be clear do not fear.

Air is the best thing I've evr met. You can breathe it, you can fill it into a balloon, and the best is: you can fly in it. The easiest way of flying is, as Douglas Adams said once, to let oneself fall onto the floor and miss (but my attempt to do so failed, unfortunately). The second easiest way is to order a flight with the nearest airline, but you need some cash for it.

The air in this city smells different from the air back home. I don't like walking outside in it at all.

Air guitaring is a now well respected art form. Once thought of as 'tacky' and 'childish', air guitaring now has its own prestigious world championships. The sport's push to fame in Asutralia was helped along by a well-known Aussie band, The Whitlams, releasing a song titled 'Chunky chunky air guitar'.

Floating in air – it's the best figurative feeling I know. I'd love to literally give it a try.
